There are distinct advantages to Abel Super Series Large Arbor reels. On a Large Arbor reel, the line lies in larger coils, thus preventing some kinking and twisting; and retrieve (pick-up) is faster since you gain more line with every turn of the handle. But perhaps the most important reason is that Super Series spools are 100% interchangeable with spools of comparable-size standard Abel Big Game Reels.
For example, with a Super 2 frame and Big Game Pt. 5 spare spool, you essentially have two distinctly different reels with different capacities and capabilities at a substantial savings. And remember: While there are other Large Arbor reels on the market, none have the Abel drag system that gives you the ability to Stop-a-Sub. Super Series reels size 6 and larger now come with a new and improved double pawl system for greater durability and a sound to die for!
