Feather River Gear and Equipment List

This list is for reference and may be varied as weather and fishing dictate. Check with store staff/guide to be sure you have all you will need.

  • Valid CA Fishing License (Steelhead Card if needed)
  • Breathable Waders
  • Under Waderwear
  • Wading Boots
  • Wading staff
  • Wading belt
  • 7 1/2 - 11 ft 4-5 wt. fly or switch rod for trout
  • Disc drag fly reel with minimum line capacity of 150 yards of backing
  • Weight Forward floating fly lines
  • Sink-tip lines may be needed (check with store staff/guide)
  • Breathable and waterproof jacket
  • Sun or Fingerless Gloves (depending upon season)
  • Strike indicators
  • Silicone fly floatant
  • 9 ft 3x-6x tapered leaders (fluorocarbon highly recommended)
  • 3x-6x tippet to match brand of leader
  • Split shot (sizes AB or BB)
  • Vest or chest pack
  • Line Trimmer and forceps
  • Landing net
  • Polarized and UV protective sun glasses
  • Sunscreen and Insect Repellant
  • Wide brimmed hat
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • Camera
