With more than a mile of river frontage on the property and access to three Fall River prams with both electric and gas outboard motors, guests at Riverside are uniquely positioned to access some of the finest fishing on the river.
The Fishing:
The cold waters of Fall River pour out of several aquifers at the edge of Fall River Valley. The water comes from the glaciers of Mt Shasta and is incredibly rich in minerals, and coupled with the limestone strata at the bottom of Fall River, are the basis of the weed growth in Fall River & resulting prolific insect hatches this river is famous for.
From Riverside you can access miles of this slow moving spring creek, making it possible to reach those sections of the river that are fishing best during your visit. Fall River trout average 12-14 inches, but there is a superb population of bigger fish, they're just harder to catch.
June is always considered to be the best dry fly month almost anywhere in this part of California. PMD’s, Blue Winged Olive Spinners, Small Yellow Stones, Caddis, Trico’s, the giant Hex and Terrestrials are all making their appearance. Most of this wonderful insect activity continues on through July. The Hex hatch will stop sometime around the middle of July, but the rest of these insects will be present right into August. The timing of some these hatches might change, but nevertheless you will still have consistent dry fly action.
The Accommodations:
Riverside is in the heart of the most productive portion of Fall River. Just downstream from Island Bridge, this retreat is perfect for small groups of spring creek fly rodders or their families. The four-bedroom Riverside vacation house sits right on the edge of the river, dead-center in the middle of the Fall River's best fishing.
The views from each of the four bedrooms are spectacular, with Mount Shasta just to the West, Mt Lassen to the South, and Fall River only a short cast away. The property includes a mile of river frontage, insulating Riverside guests from the outside world. The kitchen, dining room and each of the lovely bedrooms is completely furnished with every modern convenience.
Riverside has a satellite TV, barbecue, large Jacuzzi on the deck, and a Robert Trent Jones golf course only ten minutes away to round out the holiday atmosphere of this Northeastern California vacation spot.
Anglers are ready to go with three boats, each equipped with a 4hp gas outboard motor and an electric motor with batteries, and everything you'll need to ensure excellent fishing on the West's most famous and exclusive spring creek.
Additional activities:
Non-fishing companions will not only be able to enjoy the house, deck and Jacuzzi, but there are some great sight-seeing venues just minutes away. Burney Falls State Park is a must and many of our non angling guests have enjoyed a drive south on Hwy 89 to the Radio Astronomy Observatory and the Subway Caves. Some have packed a lunch and taken the hour drive to Lassen National Park. If you are a bird watcher and or a photographer you will quickly find that the Fall River Valley is one of best places anywhere to ply those avocations.
