Firehole Ranch - West Yellowstone, Montana
Firehole Ranch - West Yellowstone, Montana

Firehole Ranch is one of the West’s premiere guest ranches, catering to the fly fishing enthusiast. Firehole Ranch is uniquely positioned on the south shore of Hebgen Lake, sixteen miles from West Yellowstone, Montana and the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

The Fishing:

The Ranch is located just minutes from some of the world’s most renowned fishing locales, including the Madison River, the Gallatin River, the waters of Yellowstone National Park, and the famed Henry’s Fork of the Snake River.

You begin your day with a gourmet breakfast, followed by a short ferry ride across the lake in our pontoon boat. Your guide will meet you at the shore, and you’ll be on the river shortly thereafter. Our guides are experts in the area and know all the choice spots to take you depending on your abilities and interests. You could fish a different legendary river each day of your trip as each one contains an array of rainbow trout, brown trout and native cutthroats.

The Accommodations:

Firehole Ranch’s Main Lodge and guest cabins are historic structures built in the late 1940’s. The Ranch opened as a guest ranch in 1947 offering many of the same activities for its guests that are offered today. The main lodge and cabins have been remodeled over the years but still retain the character and charm of Firehole Ranch’s historic beginning.

Firehole Ranch has 10 guest cabins, each with richly appointed furnishings. The cabins also have back patios, front porches, sitting rooms and fireplaces. The cabins face Hebgen Lake, and are nestled in the shade of the trees of Gallatin National Forest. Each cabin offers a quiet and private respite from the work a day world.

Firehole Ranch has long been known for its excellent cuisine. Your day begins with a made to order breakfast with daily specials. Evening meals are preceded by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served in the main lodge and on the large outdoor deck facing Hebgen Lake.

Additional activities:

Firehole Ranch offers a number of other activities for those who would like to spend some of their time at the Ranch.

The Ranch wrangler will customize a horseback riding adventure for you. A popular day trip is a ride through the Gallatin National Forest to nearby Coffin Peak and Coffin Lake. Guests will oftentimes combine this trip with a day’s fishing in the pristine and secluded water of Coffin Lake, and enjoy a lunch prepared by our staff.

Perhaps canoeing on Hebgen Lake or a day hike or mountain bike ride on the many trials in the adjacent Gallatin National Forest appeals to you. If so, the Ranch has canoes and mountain bikes for your use.

Plenty of sight seeing opportunities are also available in Yellowstone National Park, the town of West Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Park.
